The story

A smoky variation of the classic Margarita, substituting mezcal for tequila to add complexity and depth.

Variations

Can be served up in a coupe glass without ice. Some versions add a splash of chili liqueur for heat.

Host tips

Use a high-quality mezcal that's not too smoky for beginners. The salt rim can be made with half salt, half Tajin for added flavor.
