The story

Created in 2011 by Joaquín Simó at Death & Co. in New York. Named after the song by The Strokes and inspired by the equal-parts structure of The Last Word and Paper Plane cocktails.

Variations

Some bartenders add a citrus peel garnish. The lime juice can be substituted with lemon juice for a slightly different flavor profile.

Host tips

The quality of the mezcal is crucial - use one with moderate smoke that won't overpower the other flavors.
