The story
Created by Ian Fleming for his character James Bond in the 1953 novel Casino Royale.
Variations
Modern versions sometimes substitute Cocchi Americano for Lillet Blanc, as the latter's formula has changed since the drink was invented.
Host tips
The original recipe calls for the drink to be shaken, not stirred, but bartenders typically stir this drink to prevent over-dilution.
